A total of 40 players of Utkal University men’s cricket, volleyball and women’s basketball teams were today felicitated for winning titles in respective East Zone Inter-University Tournaments during the year 2016-17. In a function held at Utkal University Sports Council (UUSC) conference hall here at Vani Vihar, university Vice-Chancellor Prof Ashok Kumar Das handed over bouquets, certificates and medals to the players.
Besides the players, managers, coaches and mentors of all three teams were also felicitated on the occasion. They included Smarita Samantaray, Anij Sultana and Pramod Kumar Nayak (all basketball); Bairagi Charan Bal, Narayab Barik and Nizam Ali (all volleyball); Sambit Rout, Biswa Ranjan Behera and Tarini Prasad Das (all cricket).
UUSC Director Kabir Mohan Sethy, former Director Prof Jayant Kumar Parida, Prof Ranjan Kumar Bal, Govt College of Physical Education Principal Dr Man Mohan Rout, UUSC Physical Education Officer Ambika Prasad Ray, Dr Prabir Kumar Mohanty, Dr Benudhar Das and Dakshya Brahma Routray were present on the occasion.
